Usenet News Server - Setting up NewsBin

Download NewsBin

1) Download NewsBin from the following site: http://www.newsbin.com/index.php?mode=files&task=viewfile&file=1
2) Run the downloaded file, and follow the instructions to setup
NewsBin. After setup, use the following steps to configure
NewsBin.

Configuring NewsBin
|
1) After the Introduction page, the following page will be shown.
2) For the "Server Name", you can either type in:
i) news.astraweb.com or
ii) europe.news.astraweb.com (for europe users)
3) Check the "Authentication Required" box, and key in your Astraweb
username and password. Continue clicking "Next" until you come to the
end of the "Install Initial Server" process.
There is an alternative way to configure NewsBin.
1) Go to "Preferences", and select "Server Options".
2) In the "Server Add/Modify" dialog box, enter the "Server Name", and
"Server Address". You can use "Port" number 119, 23, 1818, or
8080.
3) Under the "Advanced Options" section, for the "Max Server
Connections" field, we suggest you type 8.
4) Set the "Max Download Limit" to 0. Click "Apply".
5) NewsBin is now setup with your username/password and
our server. You can now login to our server.

Getting the list of newsgroups from
our server |
1) Go to "Preferences", and select "Group
Options".

2) Click the "Download Groups" button to get the latest list of groups.
3) Click the checkbox next to a newsgroup name
(e.g. alt.binaries.dvdrs) to add the group to your NewsBin group list.
4) Right-click your selected newsgroup, and select "Download All
Headers".
5) You will be
presented with a similar screen of articles as shown in the following
picture. Please take note that it might take a while to download the
complete list of articles.
6) Right-click your selected file, and select "Add to Download List",
or you can just double-click the selected file.
